Thom Donovan February 2

Leslie Flint Presents

Thom Donovan

Reading, Proposing, Talking

The Leslie Flint series offers presenters the opportunity to read and discuss their practice within a longer time-frame than the typical 20-30 minute poetry reading/academic panel formats allow for. Donovan will be using his time to speak across a trilogy of works (The Hole, Withdrawn, Death is my Gift) with regards to what he calls "metadiscourse" in contemporary poetry and art. He will also discuss the necessity of socio-political ontologies based upon negative affect ("shadow commons").

Thom Donovan is a poet, editor, curator, and teacher currently living in Brooklyn, NY. His first trade edition book, The Hole, appeared with Displaced Press in 2012. He is the co-editor and publisher of ON ContemporaryPractic, an online journal and print monograph series for critical writings about one’s contemporaries.
