May 24 Tin House & Octopus Books Night

Tin House and Octopus Books present a night of poetry at Berl's Poetry Shop, with readings from Bianca Stone and Amy Lawless!

Amy Lawless is the author of two collections of poetry, most recently My Dead (Octopus Books, 2013). Some poems have recently appeared in Black Warrior Review, notnostrums,and Ampersand Review. Some collaborations with Angela Veronica Wong have recently appeared in Best American Poetry 2013. Some prose has appeared recently in Poor Claudia. She received a poetry fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts in 2011. An audio chapbook from Broadax is forthcoming from Black Cake Records.

Bianca Stone is the author of Someone Else's Wedding Vows. Heavily influenced by a family of writers and artists, including the late poet Ruth Stone, Bianca Stone began writing poems at a very early age. She collaborated with the poet and essayist Anne Carson on Antigonick, published by New Directions in 2012. She lives in New York City.

Since its inception in 2010, Argos Books has been at the fore of the small-press renaissance, creating books and ephemera with the delicacy of art-objects and the vigor of great literature.
This evening will celebrate the Argos catalogue and community with a marathon-style reading from authors and supporters, followed by readings from the editors themselves.

HOME SWEET HOME An Exhibition of Domestic Landscapes by BIANCA STONE


You are invited to attend poet and visual artist, Bianca Stone's debut show in New York City.

The show features themes around the idea of domesticity, home, house, and the complications of the physical vs. mental landscape. The art for sale will include selections of images from Anne Carson's Antigonick, Poetry Comics, as well as a new series called "Wallpaper."

It's also a 30th Birthday Party. There will be cake, Champagne, snacks, and poetry readings by special guests Emily Petit and Ben Pease.
