April 26 Laura Sims, Christian Hawkey, Jesse Seldess, Rodrigo Toscano

In celebration of the publication of Laura Sims's new book, MY GOD IS THIS A MAN (Fence Books), Christian Hawkey, Jesse Seldess, Laura Sims, and Rodrigo Toscano will read their poetry at NYC's only poetry-only bookstore.

CHRISTIAN HAWKEY is the author of VENTRAKL (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2010), CITIZEN OF (Wave Books, 2007), and THE BOOK OF FUNNELS (Verse Press, 2004), winner of the 2006 Kate Tufts Discovery Award. In 2006 he was given a Creative Capital Innovative Literature Award and he has also received awards from the Poetry Fund and the Academy of American Poets. He teaches at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.

JESSE SELDESS is the author of two books, Who Opens (Kenning Editions, 2006) and Left Having (Kenning Editions, 2011), as well as chapbooks on Hand Held Editions, Instance Press, Answer Tag Press, and the Chicago Poetry Project Press. His work has recently appeared in the journals The Recluse, EOAGH, Jacket, Little Red Leaves, and out of nothing.

LAURA SIMS is the author of My god is this a man, Stranger and Practice, Restraint, all from Fence Books, and of Fare Forward: Letters with David Markson (Powerhouse Books, 2014). She co-edits Instance Press and teaches literature and creative writing in NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.

RODRIGO TOSCANO's latest books are DECK OF DEEDS (Counterpath Press, 2012) and COLLAPSIBLE POETICS THEATER (Fence Books, 2008). His poetry has appeared in Best American Poetry, and in McSweeny's "Poets Picking Poets." He was a 2005 recipient of a New York State Fellowship in Poetry. Toscano is also the artistic director and writer for the Collapsible Poetics Theater (CPT). Toscano has worked in labor politics and environmental justice movements for over fifteen years.
